'Deegeka Avith' and 'Kandoskiriyawa'

A Scene from ‘Deegeka Avith’

Namel Weeramuni's superbly witty productions of Deegeka Avith and Kandoskiriyawa will be staged at Gampaha Bandaranayake Hall on 10 July at 2.30 and 6.30 p.m. Deegeka Avith is a clever adaptation by Namel Weeramuni of Anton Chekov's "The Proposal" and Kandoskiriyawa an original by somapala Gunadheera. The former had been a text for a long time to show as to what a brilliant play script it is that had been written by a playwright in the world which brought him fame and tremendously enriching money at a time Chekov's father had gone bankrupt and poor, whilst the latter is an election booth satire of the yester years. Both comedies are hilarious and the audiences burst into nonstop laughter. Both these plays will also go on the boards at Punchi Theatre again at 2.30 and 6.30 p.m on July and in Gampola on 22 August at 2.30 and 6.30 p.m respectively.
