Govt airlifts dry rations to Pakistan

The
Government will send a consignment of dry rations worth nearly Rs. 2.1
million to Pakistan as flood relief items.
The Ministry of External Affairs will despatch the consignment along
with Lanka Sathosa on the directive of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The
consignment of dry rations will be sent on a C-130 plane of the Sri
Lanka Air Force this morning from the BIA at Katunayake, Air Force
Spokesman Group Captain Janaka Nanayakkara said. The consignment will be
unloaded at the Islamabad airport. The consignment of 18,000 kilogrammes
of dry rations consists of red lentils, chick peas, chillie powder,
samba rice, tea, white sugar and curry powder.
The consignment was handed over to Director (Operations) of the Sri
Lanka Air Force by Lanka Sathosa.
