Durdans launches sixth lane wing

Durdans Hospital, a leading healthcare provider in the country, has expanded to increase the quality and variety of services it provides. Its venture - the sixth lane wing, offers a host of facilities. To the present strength of 150 beds, the new wing has added another 150 with 115 rooms.

The rooms comprise a Super Grand Suite, five Grand Deluxe Rooms, 12 Super Deluxe Rooms and 101 Deluxe Rooms, designed with modern facilities and amenities to ensure comfort and ambience needed for recuperation.

The hospital also introduced an Orthopedic, Laparoscopic and Maternity Theatres along with two General Theatres.

Durdans’ new wing also includes a 15 bed Heart Command Centre - the first of its kind in Sri Lanka. The facility is equipped with advanced monitoring systems, in-built medical gas systems and modern ventilators and defibrillators to handle any medical emergency.

Durdans launched the first ‘Single Centre Concept’ in cardiac care in Sri Lanka, establishing a strategic alliance with the world’s largest free standing cardiac care institute in 1999. Today, the Durdans Heart Centre has some of the most technologically advanced facilities in the country supported by renowned cardiologists and cardiac surgeons. It is equipped with cutting edge technology and has notched the highest success rate with both non invasive cardiac investigations as well as invasive cardiac procedures.

The hospital also contains the largest Radiology Department in Sri Lanka. All clinical investigations are supported by the latest technology in imaging in the form of a 1.5 Tesla 18 channel MRI scanner and a 64 slice CT scanner.

Chairman, Durdans hospital Ajith Tudawe said “Our new state-of-the-art imaging equipment will guarantee that our doctors will have access to increased information, to strengthen medical and diagnostic capabilities. In addition, the improvements to the OPD, will enhance the comfort of all patients.”

Durdans performs the largest number of cataract surgeries in the private sector using the most modern technology available in the country.

The Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation department has forged ahead with multiple successes.

Durdans owns some of the most unique facilities available in the country including a Therapeutic Laser, a Combination Therapy unit, Advanced DTS Traction Unit, Continuous Passive Movement Unit and a Compression Therapy Unit.

Durdans is also equipped with one of the most advanced stone management systems in the world. This stone laser system offers many advantages to the patients with renal stones as against other treatment methods such as shock wave lithotripsy or open surgery. The hospital also has made significant strides in the fields of Ophthalmology, Pediatric Care, Gynecology and Obstetrics.
