Ananda College broadcasting unit makes headway

The broadcasting unit of Ananda College, set up in 1973 has become the premier school based media organisation in Sri Lanka. It has produced many talented media personalities and has organised events such as Sandeshaya, Abhishekaya.

The anniversary celebrations and commemorative workshops and the first Inter-School Announcing Competition in 2000 was held in Sinhala and English. The competition is held annually and the 10th consecutive competition was organised in 2009.

In 2010, the broadcasting unit obtained the official approval of the Government for the All-Island Inter-school Announcing Competition. Henceforth, the All-Island Inter School Announcing Competition will be supervised by the Ministry of Mass Media and Information.

Having organised this competition in Sinhala and English the Broadcasting Unit has paved the way for young announcers in Sri Lanka to exploit their latent talents.

The All-Island Inter-school Announcing Competition, organised by the Broadcasting Unit of Ananda College is conducted in all three languages.
