Sri Rahula beat traditional rivals, Sri Sumangala

Sri Rahula College, Katugastota scored a thrilling 17 points (1 goal, 2 tries) to 12 (1 goal 1 try) win over their traditional rivals Sri Sumangala College, Kandy in their schools under 20 "C" Division Rugby Tournament match played at the University grounds, Peradeniya. At half time the scores were level at 7 all.

Sri Rahula College scored their tries through No. 8 Y. R. Kumara (2) and Castro T. Jayasekera (1) and fly half. A. P. Dushantha goalled one of the tries.

For Sri Sumangala College scored through full back R. C. Thilakasiri (1) and Prop. C. P. Jayawardena (1) and fly half D. Sandaruwan goalled one of the tries.

Saman Edemo refereed.

But during the match both teams lodged their written protests to the Match Commissioner W. D. O. Wijewansa alleging that their opponents fielded players who were not eligible to play in the tournament.
