Buddha statue to be built

Sri Lanka's biggest Buddha statue in the seated posture, with 80 disciples, will be built at Galgoda Sri Maha Vihara in Panadura under the patronage of Chief Incumbent Ratnapura Ven. Pothupitiye Pagnasekera Thera with the blessings of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The construction will be inaugurated at 9.00 a.m. today.

Chairman of Tharunyata Hetak organisation and Hambantota district Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa will be the chief guest.

Parliamentarians representing the Kalutara district are also expected to attend the ceremony.
