Standards of private varsities will be maintained:

Govt earns over $ 1.1m on foreign students

Forty-three foreign Universities are conducting academic programs in Sri Lanka at present, said Higher Education Ministry Secretary Dr. Sunil Jayantha Navaratna.

He said that the setting up of private universities would also expand the university curricula with new subject streams apart from providing more opportunities to foreign students.

He said that a regulatory body would also be set up to maintain the standards of private universities.

The Government has earned over US $ 1.1 million on the enrolment of foreign students, the Secretary said.
