O/L exam not affected
The re-scheduled paper marking of the GCE Advanced Level examination
2012 that will continue till November 21 will not affect the year-end
term tests and the GCE Ordinary Level examination.
Examinations Commissioner General N.J. Pushpakumara said the term
tests will be held end November and the GCE (O/L) examination will
commence on December 11, following the completion of the evaluation
process.
"Besides, we will not be closing the schools during the third and the
final phase of the marking process, which will end on November 21," he
said.
Asked if he expects any disruption due to the delayed paper marking,
he said the schools in consultation with the Department are doing their
best to ensure that this would have no effect on the forthcoming
examinations.
The GCE A/L paper marking covers 1.8 million answer scripts. The
Commissioner said the answer scripts have been stored securely with
24-hour police protection and expressed regret that some sections of the
media had reported distorted facts causing heartburn to the GCE A/L
candidates who are eagerly awaiting results.
