Rajans to hold Int'l scouts' meeting next year
President and Chief Scout of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa will be the
chief guest at the RISGO 2013, Rajans International Scout Gathering of
Centennial 2013, the largest ever scout jamboree in Sri Lanka, to be
held in Kandy on February 22, 2013.
There are 161 countries from all six regions in this category and
there will be representatives from 150 countries with over 6,000 Scouts
and Girl Guides including Sri Lankan participants from all districts.
RISGO 2013 will be organised by the 1st Kandy Dharmaraja Scout Group
and Old Rajans Scout Association to commemorate 100 years of scouting at
Dharmaraja College.
The jamboree's theme is 'Towards Global Leadership' and there will be
events such as hiking, water activities, sight-seeing, forest
expedition, adventure activities, leadership building activities, camp
fires, cultural presentations and colourful opening and closing
ceremonies.
Asia Pacific Region Scout Commissioner, Abdullah Rasheed will open
the RISGO World Jamboree on February 18. President Rajapaksa is due to
meet the organising committee of RISGO today and the first jamboree
badge will be pinned on the President.
