Best local authorities honoured

Suwarna Purawara, the Local Government National Symposium by the
Ministry of Local Government and Provincial Councils was held recently
at Temple Trees presided by Minister of Local Government and Provincial
Councils A.L.M. Athaullah.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa was the chief guest on the occasion.
Ministers, Governors of Provinces, Chief Ministers, Heads of local
bodies and Councillors participated.
The best local authorities islandwide and Best solid Waste
Management Councils were honoured and awarded.
The following are the winners of the best local bodies;
Municipal Councils -
1st place Municipal Council, Kurunegala, 2nd place Municipal
Council, Matara, 3rd place Municipal Council, Kandy.
Urban Councils -
1st place Urban Council, Kuliyapitiya, 2nd place Urban Council,
Balangoda, 3rd place Urban Council, Seethawaka.
Pradeshiya Sabhas -
1st place Pradeshiya Sabha, Wariyapola, 2nd place Pradeshiya
Sabha, Kurunegala, 3rd place Pradeshiya Sabha, Pasbaga Korale.
Prize winners for the Solid Waste Management were as follows,

1st place Municipal Council, Bandarawela, 2nd place Municipal
Council, Nuwaraeliya, 3rd place Municipal Council, Matara.
