LTTE cadres arrested in Malaysia brought to Sri Lanka

Three LTTE cadres arrested by the Royal Malaysian police a few weeks ago in Kuala Lumpur were brought to the country early yesterday morning, the police said.

The suspects are Edmond Singharaja alias Seelan, Angurukankanamlage Indika Sanjeewa alias Mohamed Sanjaya Abdul and Abdul Saleem Bin Mohamed.

The Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division personnel detained three of the four suspected LTTE members arrested in the Klang Valley on July 4. Four suspected Tamil Tigers including a man had been allegedly involved in the 1999 assassination attempt on the then President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.

A local police team who took the suspects for questioning at the Bandaranaike International Airport, in Katunayake handed them over to the Terrorist Investigation Division head office in Colombo.

Seven LTTE members were arrested by the Malaysian authorities

during the past few months. The TID detained the suspects for further interrogation.
