DHL ranked highest in industry

DHL Worldwide Express has been selected as Asia's most admired company in the shipping and transport industry. The air express company was ranked 14th in Asia's Most Admired Company Survey (AMAC), commissioned by Asian Business. They survey places DHL above other companies in the shipping, transport and air express industries.

Last year, DHL was ranked within the top 40 companies in the AMAC survey and was, again, the highest ranking company in the shipping and transport industry. This year's leap to 14th place is a reflection of the company's focus on continuous quality improvement and service expansion, as well as its investment in infrastructure and people.

Meanwhile DHL and Singapore Airport Terminal Services (SATS) opened a new multimillion dollar hub facility at Singapore Changi International Airport last month. The facility, called the DHL Singapore Hub/ SATS Express Courier Centre 2 is DHLs biggest transshipment hub in the Asia Pacific region and the result of a long-standing partnership with SATS.

The company will spend US$34 million to equip and operate the Singapore Hub over the next 10 years. The new Hub is part of DHL,s overall investment programme for Asia of over US$300 million aimed at boosting infrastructure network, vehicle fleet, workforce and customer service over the coming years. This is the first time SATS, a leading provider of integrated ground handling and in-flight catering services, has purpose built a facility for a client. SATS has invested S$30 million in land an buildings.

DHL Worldwide Express pioneered the industry in 1969. The DHL network links 120,000 destinations in over 220 countries and territories and employs 69,000 people. It is a privately owned company. Major shareholders are Deutsche Post World Net, Lufthansa, and Japan Airlines.
