Marsh rates Murali and Warne on par

KANDY, January 5 - Former Australian Test opener and current Zimbabwe coach Geoff Marsh said that he would have both Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne in his side because they were great bowlers.

"Shane Warne and Murali are two great bowlers. One is a leggie and one is an offie. If you are ask me which one I would have in my side, I would have both. They are both great bowlers and got great records. They are great to watch and great to play against," said Marsh. "Murali bowled very well today. His length was excellent and he is a world class bowler. You get on a wicket like that and turn the ball square on it, is a great perforamance. To take nine wickets in the first innings of a Test match is an excellent performance," said Marsh.

"Our batsmen played some disappointing shot to him, but still it was an excellent performance," he said.

"Murali's performances over the last month or two has been excellent.

Obviously every year he plays he gets more experience. His record is outstanding. He is a dedicated cricketer and he is still improving. His performances out in the middle has been terrific.

"The thing that Murali does is that he bowls with accuracy for an offspinner and he's got the ability to turn the ball more than any bowler on this wicket and he's turned it a long way," said Marsh. - (ST)
