St. Sebastian's College Moratuwa were 136 for 7 in reply to St. Joseph's first innings total of 113 all out on the opening day of their inter-school cricket encounter which began at Darley Road, on Friday.

Nalanda 170

S. Thomas' were 11 for 1 when rain intervened in the final session of play in reply to Nalanda's score of 170 in their inter-schools Lemonade Cup tournament match which began at Mt. Lavinia on Friday.

S. Thomas' having sent Nalanda to bat first, did well to claim three wickets for eight runs - but with useful contributions coming from Gamini Chandrakumara and Madura Warnapura they were all out for 170, little after tea.

Fresher Rohita Rodrigo, the medium pacer and spinner Denham Williams, took five and two wickets respectively for S. Thomas'.

Nalanda 170 (G. Chandrakumara 41, M. Warnapura 44, S. Gangodawila 36, T. Attanayake 15, R. Rodrigo 5 for 46, D. Williams 2 for 21).

Last year's skipper and left-arm medium pacer Anuradha Jayasundera in a sustained spell of bowling captured 7 for 25 for Dharmaraja College to rock Royal College, Colombo on the opening day of inter-school cricket match which began at Police grounds, Kandy on Friday.

Dharmaraja College 129 all out in 40.3 overs (Nalin Jayasundera 13, Kelum Ariyadasa 19, Chamara Kapugedara 36, Gayan Nadunge 15, Manjula Herath 32, Dilshan Kanake 5 for 29, Chaminda Widanapathirana 3 for 46, Tharaka Kottehewa 2 for 11) and 0 for no loss in 0.3 balls.

Royal College 117 all out in 46 overs (Suren Mendis 34, Anil Prakash 11, Pasindu Chamikara 18, Damith Abeygunawardena 18, Chamikara Widanapathirana 10, Nirmal Wickremaratne 2 for 48, Anuradha Jayasundera 7 for 25).

Old Rajans in 7-wkt win

An entertaining knock of 83 with 9 fours by Naresh Ratnayake and 3 sixers helped Old Rajans Sports Club, Kandy, to score their third successive win when they beat Zeylanicans Sports Club by seven wickets in their BCCSL's limited over cricket match played at Lake View grounds, Kandy recently.

Zeylanicans SC:171 all out in 44.1 overs (S. Nandasinghe 31, T. Liyanage 49, M. Herath 4 for 37, C. Nadunge 2 for 20).

Old Rajans SC: 172 for 3 in 35 overs (Naresh Ratnayake 83, M. Wijekoon 24, K. Ariyadasa 21 not out).
