By Colvin L. de Silva

Astute and experienced administrator, Senarath Kapukotuwa, General Secretary of the governing United National Party in Sri Lanka was the guest of honour at the 25th anniversary celebrations of the UK Branch of the United National Party.

He was joined by Niraj Deva, a member of the European Parliament, his wife, and Richard Normington, who is the executive secretary of the International Democrat Union.

A very large number of members including those who founded the branch in London participated in the grand celebrations that took place recently.

UK branch president Azahim Mohamed told the Sunday Observer that there was great enthusiasm among the membership as they felt the United National Party was destined to form a government after the December 5 polls.
