New
finance company in the offing
Lanka ORIX Leasing Company Limited (LOLC) was recently granted approval by the Central Bank to incorporate a new finance company. Managing Director of LOLC Raaj de Silva said LOLC Finance Company Ltd., which is now being incorporated, is to be a wholly owned subsidiary of LOLC and is scheduled to commence operations in early 2002. The new company, according to LOLC officials, is the first finance company to be approved by the Central Bank since it suspended the approval of new finance companies almost two decades ago, following the crash of several finance companies in the early eighties. |
