Media given boost by Affno
The annual report company, Smart Media recently presented a preview of its intranet and extranet built by Affno the software engineering company specialising in e-business. Smart Media's CEO Rochelle Kannanagara, making the presentation at the recently concluded National Conference of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, said that the company's latest high-tech investment would be launched by June. Outlining the key benefits of the new software system, Kannangara said that clients would be able to access their annual reports on line during the development stage from wherever they are, at whatever time that is convenient to them. Clients would be able to edit the text on line, attach notes, stamps approval or disapproval, pencil remakes and attach files. The system will also maintain a comprehensive log of who did what and on what date and time. Stringent security measures similar to those used in electronic banking have been employed. "The other major benefit to clients would be the automatic project status indicator which tracks the status of the various tasks. The intranet part of the software system enables the entire team at Smart Media to work more efficiently through the integrated project management system as well as more effectively by being able to work in several teams on different projects concurrently. A comprehensive document management system enables the sharing of information, collaboration and also acts as the knowledge repository of the company". She added. Affno's CEO Suren Kannangara said what Affno did was to study the existing system of smart media build the software for it, which simply enhances the whole operation at Smart Media, Giving it a boots rather than impose any new systems on the company. |
