Botswana is a country situated in the southern part of Africa and it is considered as one of the fastest growing country in the world (in year 2000 the GDP growth was 9%).

Botswana provides many facilities and incentives for investors compared to other countries in Africa and already some Sri Lankan have made use of this opportunity. It is identified that there are many opportunities for Sri Lankan investors to establish businesses in Botswana especially in the fields of Garment, Diamond Cutting, Tourism & Hotel, Education, Meat Processing, Leather and Machinery Manufacturing etc. Also Botswana has very good export potentials to other countries.

In collaboration with Botswana Export Development and Investment Authority BEDIA (Government Agency Authorized for Investment Promotion), Industrial Services Bureau (ISB) is making arrangements to take a group of Sri Lankan investors to study and assess the potential for investment.

All arrangements (Business meetings, identifying potential partners for joint ventures, visits to industrial estates, meeting with relevant organizations etc.) in Botswana will be arranged by BEDIA and other arrangements will be made by ISB. It is planned to make this mission during the last week of February 2002.

Only about fifteen Sri Lankan businessmen/weman will be registered for the tour.
