MBA batch at Imperial Institute triples

The intake of students for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme at the Imperial Institute of Higher Education (IIHE) has increased nearly threefold in October 2001, the Institute stated in a news release.

"Our MBA programme began in October 2000 and has grown from 16 students to 47 students this year", IIHE's Academic Affairs Director Daya Jayasinghe said.

"The MBA is intended for aspiring senior managers and is designed to enhance their potential and attractiveness to employees," Mr. Jayasinghe said. "The programme involves a thorough coverage of the key functional aspects of management and also introduces a selective study of specialist areas. This way, participants are equipped with a body of knowledge and a range of skills which are both long-term and are of immediate relevance and value to their organisations," he added.

As the University of Wales' locally validated centre, Imperial Institute of Higher Education was officially opened in October 1997 and along with the MBA offers undergraduate programmes such as B.Sc (Hons) in Business Management, Banking and Finance, Economics and Accounting and Finance.
