Hayleys re-structured by MTI Consulting

The Sri Lankan inland operations of Hayleys, comprising 15 companies, have just completed the first part of a re-structuring and strategic direction-finding exercise.

This has led to the formation of three strategic business groups - Consumer Products, Agro Products and Industrial Solutions - each with a vision to lead their respective market segments. This customised approach was conceptualized and developed by Marketing Technologies International (MTI), the international management and marketing consultancy.

"Different business units grow at different speeds and in different directions. We thought it was time that we looked at consolidating our local operations, benefiting from the synergies and their potential to enhance the bottom line", said Richard Ebell, member of the Hayleys Group Management Committee.

"Cost rationalizing is necessary, but it needs to be aligned to the strategic business process. MTI's strategic planning process, which is based on our 8S model, starts with a clean slate and works on the premise of building a brand new organisation. This ensures that we build a lean and mean structure, which will hold good even when the bad times come," said Hilmy Cader, the Bahrain-based CEO of MTI Consulting.
