Improving
the lot of estate sector
The activities launched by the Ministry of Estate Infrastructure for its 100 day programme are aimed at bringing speedy solutions to some of those issues which affect the lives of the estate community. The estate community has been overlooked during the past and it is only recently that the attention of the public sector was directed towards this lot. Several programmes have been identified for implementation during the first 100 days of 2002 to bring tangible results to the estate community. These programmes are identified to address the major issues affecting the day to day lives of the estate community. The major areas of interventions include measures to reduce the unemployment among estate youth, programme for reducing the burden of living, improvement of health services of the estate areas, social mobilisation of estate youth, improvement of educational facilities in the estate sector, promotion cultural activities and provision of facilities for promoting religious activities. |
