First Hilton hotel in Sweden The first Hilton in Sweden, Hilton Stockholm Slussen, will open its doors on February 21. The opening marks Hilton's entry into the Swedish market. The plan is to open at least four Hiltons in Sweden during 2002. Hilton Stockholm Slussen will be a 290-room business hotel. Its amenities and service will be suited to both business and leisure travellers. These will include 'Hilton Breakfast,' 'Hilton Meetings', 24-hour room service, business and executive floor accommodation and quality restaurants and bars. Hilton Group plc acquired Scandic Hotels last June. Hilton now intends to establish itself as a significant player within the Nordic hotel market by opening some 20 to 25 Hilton hotels within the next three years. Most of these will be Scandic Hotels chosen for their location and existing standards, which will be improved and rebranded as Hiltons. During 2002, Hilton plans to open at least four hotels in Sweden. The first Hilton to open in the Nordic region, Hilton Copenhagen Airport, was awarded 'The Best New Business Hotel Worldwide' by the English magazine Business Traveller. Scandic Hotels continues to be operated as previously. With more than 130 properties, the chain is the Nordic leader in mid-market hotels. There are 15 Scandic Hotels in Stockholm, six in Gothenburg and four in Malmo. |
