Rs. 19m bonanza to popularise current accounts Hatton National Bank (HNB) has launched an awareness campaign and a rewards scheme to promote current accounts. The concept of current accounts is said to be one of the most under-used banking instruments in Sri Lanka with the general public as a whole not being fully aware of its full potential as a modern day business tool. HNB's multi-media campaign highlights the importance of current accounts especially drawing the attention of the young executive and the traditional businessman dealing in cash. The bank uses security in a volatile environment and prestige as prime features of a current account. The lack of interest is attributed to a lack of awareness and the general perception that a current account is not an investment tool. HNB has a solution to both. "We realized somebody had to take the initiative in educating the public of the salient points of the concept and as for the latter, we are launching the biggest current account rewards scheme in Sri Lanka," Chandula Abeywickrema, Deputy General Manager, Marketing and Development at HNB said.Branded as 'Power Cheques' and made attractive with a multi-million rupee bonanza, HNB's current account, the bank hopes, would attract a lot of interest. HNB also offers rewards to the tune of Rs. 19 million including a Volvo luxury car worth over Rs. 4 million to popularise the concept of chequing accounts, the bank said. |
