Sahan Senadheera wins colours at cricket in New Zealand
Sahan Senadheera, a Sri Lankan student domiciled in New Zealand with his family has won the award of School Cricketer of Glenfield College, Auckland for 2001 for the third consecutive year. All-rounder Sahan made his best performance in his cricket career - 150 runs and also took 8 wickets for 62 runs with a hat-trick against Rangito College - in secondary school cricket tournament held in 2001. He played for Under-17 North Harbour cricket team in the district tournament in 2001-2002 and is selected as the captain of the 1st XI school team for 2002. He also played for Group 'A' warm-up matches in Under-19 World Cup tournament this year. Sahan's cricket career in Sri Lanka started at Dharmapala College, Pannipitiya way back in the early 1990s when he was 10 years old and recently he had the opportunity to undergo coaching from Messrs Wan Silva and Jayantha Seneviratne in Colombo when he was on holiday in Sri Lanka with his parents. |
