Jude and Prabha win chess trophies in India Jude Ranga Samarasinghe of Isipathana College collected 6.5 points out of nine rounds and received the sixth place of the under 10 category and won a chess trophy (among the best ten players) of the Chettinad Vidyashram Open Chess Championship conducted recently at Kumara Rani Meena Muttiah Arts and Science College in Chennai, India. Miss Prabha Vidyatilleke of Musaeus College collected 5.5 points out of eight rounds and got the fourth place among the girls and received a trophy. There were over one thousand chess players who participated from various age groups and twenty five Sri Lankan players participated representing Anatoly Karpov Chess Club of the Russian Centre in Colombo. According to Mrs. Suneetha Wijesuriya, President of the Anatoly Karpov Chess Club, the performances of the local players were very satisfactory. Other results are as follows: Nishantha Withanage 5.5 points, Yeshan Sri Nissanka 5 points, Sudaraka Mallawarachcchi 4.5 points, Dinuke Munasinghe 5 points, Chaturanga Fernando 5 points, Veranga Bowie 5 points. Yasantha Balasuriya 5 points, Isuru Amendra Deshapriya 4.5 points, Uttunga Jayawardena 5 points, Ishara Wijesinghe 5 points, Oshadhi Kottahachchy 5 points, Sithija Hettige 5 points, Naveen Alwis 6.5 points, Tesath Jayawardena 4.5 points, Visnupriya Ramanah 5 points.
