Customs, freight forwarding services provider to Olympics Schenker AG's U.S. subsidiary, Schenker Inc. has been appointed as the official provider of customs and freight forwarding services for the 2002 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Salt Lake City, USA. Schenker Inc. will also be an official supplier to the US Olympic team thorough 2004, for the Summer Olympic Games in Athens. Over 3,500 athletes and officials from 40 nations and more than 6,000 media representatives from 160 countries will be in attendance at the Salt Lake City games. Among Schenker's customers are the International Olympic Committee and more than 20 national Olympic Committees, related companies, international broadcasters and institutions. In order to fulfil their logistics requirements, Schenker will transport more than 13,000 freight tons, ranging from athletes sporting equipment to the media's production gear.
