Intertek Testing Services Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. (ITS) commissioned a Rs. 15 million state-of-the-art agri laboratory last week.

The laboratory, equipped with the latest sophisticated electronic equipment, will test tea, water, commodities and fertiliser. This was a long-felt need in the agri sector.

ITS has been involved in many industries in Sri Lanka for inspection, testing and certification services. One of its major customers is Ceylon Petroleum Corporation. ITS was established in Sri Lanka in the late 1980s and was known as Colag Inspection Services until 1999. The company tied up with the local joint venture partner Mercantile Merchant Bank group which holds 40 per cent of the company and became known as ITS Lanka Pvt Ltd.

ITS is one of the oldest and largest companies in the inspection and testing business and provides its services to all types of industries. It is backed by a wide international network with over 500 offices and 245 laboratories in 98 countries and employs 10,400 professionals around the world.
