Training on new technologies Bluetooth and Bioinformatics will be some of the latest areas of technology that students of IDL Spectrum will receive training on, Chairman, IDL Spectrum Jayanthan Kulasingham said last week. Addressing a media conference held to announce the launch of the Board of Investment-approved IT training company, he said that although the company focuses on IT, it will also provide training in English. "We might later expand to areas such as CIM and CIMA as well," he said. The Indo - Lanka joint venture set up the first Spectrum Training Centre at Colombo 3 last week and aims to go island-wide within the next two years. "We hope to become the largest human resource development company in Sri Lanka by opening training centres around the country. We will focus on rural youth as this is a sector which is largely ignored. We plan to invest something like US$ 300,000 in IT training," Kulasingham said. Chairman, IT Development Labs (IDL) India, V. Kupparaj, who is a board member of IDL Spectrum was also in Sri Lanka for the occasion. IDL India is part of the Vummidi Group and is one of the leading technical institutions in the country. "The credits our company had earned include being the first to provide training in Wireless Application Protocol in South India, the first to introduce a model on soft skills, first to offer training in multi-dimensional databases and the first to set up a Bluetooth laboratory in India. |
