"Lanka's IT market has growth potential"

DMS Electronics Ltd. and Informatics Pvt Ltd. are the two latest companies to join the Hewlett Packard family in Sri Lanka.

Marketing Manager Asia and Emerging Countries, Hewlett Packard Singapore David Ong said: "The inclusion of the two new companies as strategic partners was not an overnight decision, but the result of an year of discussions."

"The two companies have a good reputation and we are confident that we can compliment each other in business," he added.

Mr Ong said that the Sri Lankan IT market has the potential to grow, but the opportunities for growth were lacking due to the unstable political and economic situation of the country. The peace process initiated by the new government will give positive signals to investors and progress will follow peace with opportunities for growth and wealth for the people, he said.

The situation in the country is an excellent opportunity for expansion and the IT industry is prepared to take the challenge and forge ahead.

HP educates customers as well as markets and have adopted this strategy in Sri Lanka too. HP provides regular updates while providing training in hardware, solutions, certification and business.

He said that people of today are busy and want a 24-hour service as every minute is an opportunity on the Internet. Therefore, the solution is Always On Internet Infrastructure (AOII), but it should be designed effectively, managed seamlessly, optimised dynamically and evolved intelligently.

The launching of AOII by HP will equip Sri Lanka's IT industry to face the challenges of the future with confidence and take advantage of the available opportunities. Explaining his plans for Sri Lanka, he said that HP wants to build a circle of confidence to make a positive difference in the customer. "With the introduction of the two new companies, we have six partners in Sri Lanka .
