Satyn plans Bangladesh edition

Satyn, the women's magazine published by Shila Publications, has announced plans to launch a Bangladeshi edition.

Nayomini Ratnayake Weerasooriya, Satyn's Managing Director and Managing Editor said that the magazine has achieved a saturation point in Sri lanka. "Now that we have consolidated the Sri Lankan market, we were reviewing the region for growth opportunities. Given its high rate of English literacy and market similarities with Sri Lanka, Bangladesh was an attractive option" she said. The Bangladeshi edition of Satyn will be published in English.

Asoka Weerasooriya, who heads Shila Publications, said that the Bangladeshi edition would involve opening a Bangladeshi office with editorial participation in Dhaka. "We are optimistic of the plans for expansion with a Bangladeshi edition. the response so far from everyone has been positive", He added that there are investors interested in the project. "We are happy with the response we have had from investors, all of them Sri Lankan," he said. Satyn was launched in 1998.
