Cover against cancer

A life insurance policy with specific cover against almost all forms of cancer has been launched by Ceylinco Life, in response to the growing threat the disease poses in Sri Lanka.

'Ceylinco Cancer Cover' pays for all stages of the treatment process with benefits of up to two and a half times the initial value of the policy, the company said.

"According to the annual report of the Cancer Society, approximately 4,000 Sri Lankans die of cancer every year, and new cases are believed to be in the region of 12,000 a year", Ceylinco Insurance's Director and General Manager (Life) R. Renganathan said.

This new policy seeks to help the country deal with this alarming situation. The new policy offers several distinctive benefits that differentiate it from all others in the market, he said. Ceylinco Cancer Cover is the only policy that automatically increases the value of all benefits by five per cent every year with no change in premium. The policy also makes periodic payments for cancer screening for the policyholder every three years, and this payment will also increase annually by five per cent.

The cover of the new policy ranges from Rs. 100,000 to Rs. 1 million. Policyholders would be between 18 and 50 years of age to be eligible for this benefit.

The standard life cover of 100 per cent of the policy value will also be payable in the event of the death of the policyholder during the term of the policy, even if all other benefits have been utilised.

Ceylinco Life has embarked on a major initiative to promote the prevention of cancer through screening and education.
