Delmege presents Shipping award

The Delmege Forsyth and Co. (Shipping) award for the top student in the subject of 'Shipping Practice' at the annual qualifying examinations of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, was presented for the fourth successive year at the Institute's awards function recently.

The award was initiated by Delmege Shipping as part of the company's commitment to promoting professionalism in the local shipping sector. Narawala Gamage Mahinda, Deputy General Manager (Finance) of State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) won the award for the year 2001. The examination conducted in Sri Lanka on behalf of the Institute in London, lead to Member or Fellow status in the institute for persons involved in the shipping industry.

Delmege Shipping was incorporated in 1973 to handle the large shipping agency business that had been built up by Delmege Forsyth and Co., Ltd., over three quarters of a century.
