Senior broadcaster leaves for Cyprus

Mr. Dhammika P. Ratnayake, a senior Broadcaster of Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation will do a live Radio commentary on Sinhala Hindu New Year celebration on April 14 in NICOSIA capital of Cyprus. He will be in Cyprus on the invitatin of Sri Lnaka Welfare Association in Cyprus.

In Cyprus 12000 Sri Lankans are living. Under the Chairmanship of Mr. Vajira L. P. Wickremasinghe, Chairman of the Cyprus-Sri Lanka Welfare Association, it was planned to celebrate this New Year - 'Bakmaha Sanakeliya' in Nicosia, Capital of Cyprus. The People's Bank will be the main sponsors of this celebration.

The Sri Lanka Welfare Association - Cyprus has made extensive arrangements to get down maximum Sri Lankans in the morning of 14th April 2002 at Nicosia to participate in New Year celebrations. During broadcast of 'Lowata Avurudhu' program by Pavana Radio Sri Lanka on 14th April 2002, Mr. Dhammika Ratnayake has taken steps to join this broadcast and give live important events from Cyprus. On this day as from morning 06.30 onwards, Sri Lankan listeners will be able to listen to this program through 'Pavana' - Radio Sri Lanka.
