A new webpage launched

A new webpage `www.slproductivity.org' for the Employment and Labour Ministry was launched at the ceremony held at the Colombo Hilton recently, with the aim of helping in the development of a national productivity policy.

Website which had the support of the USAID ,was launched in the presence of Employment and Labour Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe and US Ambassador Ashley Wills, Secretary Finance Charitha Ratwatte, Secretary to the Ministry of Employment and Labour and several other distinguished invitees.

US Ambassador Ashley Wills in his address said that the Internet was the most democratic invention in generations and the USA was proud to be involved in the project.

Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe said that it was the second occasion on which a national policy was formulated adopting new mechanism and added saying that the portal would not only encourage people participation with their views but would also keep them informed throughout policy formation process providing them the opportunity to play an active role.
