2003 GCE exams

by Anjana Gamage

Education Minister Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku, has instructed the Education officials to identify the dates for the conduct of the GCE O\L and GCE A\L examinations for the year 2003 as soon as possible, Education Ministry sources told the " Sunday Observer".

The Secretary to the Education Ministry, V.K. Nanayakkara, has been entrusted with the task.

The Education Ministry had decided to hold the GCE (A\L) examination in April this year, instead of August to avoid the eventual delay for university admissions.

It has also decided not to utilise schools as paper marking centres hereafter. "Instead youth centres, cultural centres and school buildings which have been closed due to lack of students, will be utilised as alternative centres for paper marking, sources added.
