Going ahead with Elle & Vire People watching their waistlines, cholesterol levels and saying 'No' to butter should be relieved that at last, there is 'low fat' alternatie in the market. This is the first time in Sri Lanka that Elle & Vire, a French dairy company has introduced a wide variety of their products, said French Ambassador in Sri Lanka, Marie France Pragnier, who was Chief Guest at the launching ceremony at the Hilton Colombo. And Vivianne Bensamounne, Export Sales Manager for the Asia region said the Lankan market was important to her - particularly as she foresaw the great tourist potential here. Their products ranged from low fat butter, yoghurts (fruit and plain) dairy desserts, a wide variety of cheeses, whipped cream and milk. Madhawa Weerabaddhana, a former lecturer of the Ceylon Hotel School who has spent most of his time abroad visiting 20 countries offering his expertise and now in Lanka as Managing Director, Golden Palate, said he was instrumental in getting Elle & Vire here since he believed there to be a great demand for not only low fat products but also for other items that our booming hotel industry needed and the public craved for. As Managing Director of Golden Palate, the local representative of this French Company, he assures there will be an uninterrupted supply of these items for the health conscious. The butter available is 70 and 50 percent low fat. Being the Vice President of the CHGA, he has arranged for French Chef Christian Frenbot to conduct training programmes for our executive and pastry chefs in the fine art of making delicious desserts and entries using low fat ingredients. |
