Sri Lanka 'A' face defeat against Combined Clubs

Sri Lanka 'A' are facing certain defeat at the hands of the Combined Clubs XI today in their BCCSL Invitation Quadrangular Cricket Championship game at the SSC grounds, Maitland Place.

In reply to Sri Lanka 'A' total of 232, Combined Clubs made 251 - 19 runs lead, and Sri Lanka 'A' were in a pathetic state at 66 for 6 when play was called off yesterday due to bad light with three overs yet remaining.

Paceman Chamila Gamage ripped through the Sri Lanka 'A' side in the second turn with 4 for 25. He claimed 5 for 34 in their first turn. There were two half centuries by Nimesh Perera (not out 78) and Praneeth Jayasundera (55) in the Combined Clubs innings. These two put on 116 runs for the sixth wicket.

Sri Lanka 'A': 232 in 70 overs (Avishka Gunawardene 80, Bhathiya Perera 51, Gayan Wijekoon 30, Chamila Gamage 5 for 34, Hasantha Fernando 3 for 65) and 66 for 6 in 20 overs (Jehan Mubarak not out 24, Gayan Wijekoon 16, Chamila Gamage 4 for 25).

Combined Club XI: 251 in 55.5 overs (Dilruwan Perera 30, Upul Fernando 24, Indika de Saram 19, Nimesh Perera not out 78, Praneeth Jayasundera 55, Nandika Ranjith 14, Dhammika Perera 5 for 46, Rangana Herath 3 for 38).
