Farveez Mahroof (52) and Sumalka Perera (57) hit enterprising half centuries as the Sri Lanka Schools scored 229 in reply to the Development Squad's 215 in their first innings on the second day of the BCCSL conducted Invitation Quadrangular Cricket Tournament at the Moors Grounds, Braybrooke Place yesterday.

Mahroof displayed his allround prowess and took 3 for 37 in addition to his half century prior to been sidelined by an injury and opener Sumalka Perera put on 75 runs for the first wicket with skipper Jeevan Mendis (17) who was bowled by spinner Kaushal Lokuarachchi.

Development Squad 189 for 8 - overnight 215 (A. Polonowita 89, K. Lokuarachchi 32, M. Surapullige 2 for 42, F. Mahroof 3 for 37, G. Ratnayake 2 for 49, G. Chandrakumara 2 for 9) and 32 for no loss at close (S. Kalavitigoda 19 n.o, Ian Daniel 11 n.o).
