Colombo 4th in holiday package sales to Dubai Shopping Festival

Colombo has been placed fourth out of 51 stations on the Emirates network for sales of holiday packages to the recently concluded Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF).

This achievement follows a concerted sales and marketing effort which saw the station move up seven places from 11th position last year. Ahead of Colombo in terms of sales of Emirates Holidays DSF packages this year, are Tehran, Nicosia and Istanbul.

"This is a very commendable performance, especially in the context of the size and level of affluence of the market we operate in," Emirates Area Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives Tissa Bibile said. "We commenced our marketing campaign in January, and the early start has paid dividends."

Colombo accounted for about six per cent of total sales of Emirates Holidays packages to the DSF, which ran from March 1 to 31.

Emirates, the Dubai-based international airline is a major sponsor of the Dubai Shopping Festival.
