Cathay Colombo takes off on positive note

Cathay Pacific Colombo had achieved positive revenue growth within the network during this year, said Manori Jayasekera, Sales and Marketing Manager of Cathay Pacific Airways in Sri Lanka.

"We have managed to overcome many hurdles and achieve positive revenue growth within the Cathay Pacific network," she explained adding: "Cathay Colombo has shown steady revenue growth in January and February compared to 2001 and this is due to the continued support given by travel agents and passengers choosing to fly Cathay."

"This is a very satisfactory result after being off-line from July to November last year, following the airport attack," said Toby Smith, Cathay Pacific Country Manager - Sri Lanka and Maldives.

Cathay Pacific has announced further enhancements to its fleet including a new Business Class cabin which is progressively being introduced throughout the fleet. It features a new stretch-flat seat with a number of adjustable settings, audio and video on demand entertainment, a private dressing room and a bar.

The Economy Class cabin which already features PTVs in every seat is also currently undergoing a programme aimed at creating a new look. By the end of this year, the entire fleet will feature enhanced upholstery and new fabric on seats as well as a new look to the cabin and toilets.

Cathay Pacific has also announced an increase in its services. From June 1, services to Los Angeles will increase from seven to 10 flights a week, while Tokyo will see a fifth daily flight go into operation. From July 1, the airline's service to Vancouver will rise from 11 to 14 while London will see an increased frequency of 18 flights a week.

From Colombo, Cathay flies three times a week every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday, operating a Boeing 777-300 aircraft in a two-class configuration of Business and Economy.

James Finlay and Co. (Colombo) Ltd. is the general sales agent for Cathay Pacific Airways in Colombo.
