Ornamental fish exporter ISO certified

Keells Aquarium (Pvt.) Limited (KAQL) a 100 per cent export oriented subsidiary of the John Keells Group, has become the first ornamental fish exporter in Sri Lanka to obtain ISO 9002 certification. The scope covers preparation of parent stocks to exports of fresh water ornamental fish.

KAQL had to comply to 17 elements included in the certification criteria to receive ISO 9002 and it obtained the certification with zero non-conformances in the audit.

The company established in 1991 has also won the awards at the 'Aquarama' 1995, 1997, 1999 and 2001 International Fish Exhibition in Singapore.

Sri Lanka supplies only two per cent of the world's requirement of ornamental fish and there is a huge export potential which KAQL is gearing itself to capture. The company markets a wide range of ornamental fish covering more than 100 varieties.

In the marine fish range, KAQL includes Sri Lankan as well as Maldivian fish in its stock list. KAQL is a market leader in Sri Lanka in the export of ornamental fish, supplying to all major international markets in Europe, UK, USA, Scandinavia, Australia, the Middle East and the Far East.
