Council launches University English Project
The British Council has embarked on a project to help enhance the development of English Language Teaching in Sri Lankan universities. responding to requests from Vice Chancellors, and will be a two-year project. The project will be co-ordinated locally by Professor Ryhana Raheem, Professor of English at the Open University of Sri Lanka, who is also the advisor to the Project. It will be implemented with the assistance of the Centre for Applied Language Studies of the University of Reading in the United Kingdom. Ms. Pauline Robinson, Director of the Centre is currently on a visit to Sri Lanka to acquaint herself with the needs and capacities of the ELTUs. During the course of her stay, Ms. Robinson will meet members of UGC and will visit a number of English Language Teaching Units at universities including Units in the Colombo, Ruhunu and the South Eastern University at Oluvil. |
