Sunday Observer wishes readers a happy Vesak

The new Pinnacle which was placed on the Dagoba of the newly restored Naga Viharaya was unveiled by the Minster of Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Refugees Dr. Jayalath Jayawardene along with the Diyawadana Nilame of the Dalada Maligawa, Neranjan Wijeyaratne in an auspicious ceremony on Friday. The Pinnacle was taken from Kataragama to Jaffna in a special procession along the A9 route. Pictures shows the new Dagoba of the Naga Viharaya , located in the heart of Jaffna which was destroyed around 10 years ago.

Helgesan, Solheim arrive to work out modalities

Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister Vidar Helgesan accompanied by Norwegian facilitator Erik Solheim arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday to finalise the commencement of peace talks between the Government and the LTTE.

Thamilchelvam to meet Colombo lawyers

The LTTE political Wing Stalwart Thamilchelvam has agreed to meet the Colombo Magistrate Court Lawyers to explain the stand of the LTTE on the peace process. LTTE Chief Administrative Officer Sinnappa Master has confirmed that the meeting will take place shortly.
