Apollo
will help in national emergency
by Ramani Kangaraarachchi The newly-opened Apollo Hospital in Colombo is prepared to come forward in case of a national emergency where stabilization of patients will be done during the first 'golden hour', a spokesman for the hospital told the "Sunday Observer". "We can treat all types of patients and no one will be turned back", he added. The world-class hospital will be fully operational from June 7, and more than 2500 persons have registered in the past two weeks. More than 500 persons who had been treated at Apollo Hospital in India were given free registration during the first three days. The hospital can accommodate 500 in-patients at a time, and nearly 2000 persons are employed including medical staff. Hundred Sri Lankan nurses have been trained in India and a further hundred Indian nurses have also come to work in the Colombo hospital. Both Indian and Sri Lankan specialists will be available, and Dr. Girinath, specialist in cardiology will be visiting very often, sources said. |
