Admissions
to grade I Govt. schools to be modified
The criteria for admissions to Grade 1 in government schools will be modified from next year, the Sunday Observer learns. Strict rules of the period of residence in the area and distance to the preferred school will be eased to some extent, Ministry sources revealed. Sources further revealed that the Human Resources Development, Education and Cultural Affairs Minister Karunasena Kodituwakku had shown his interest in the matter. The Minister had also expressed the necessity of having a transparent and steady policy on the admission of the Grade 1 and Grade 6 to reduce political intervention in such matters. |
