Galadari beat Triton by one wicket

Galadari Hotel beat Triton by one wicket in the final of the Chef's Guild Cup 2002 cricket tourney at the Shalika Grounds, Narahenpita yesterday.

Triton batting first scored 54 all out in 4.2 overs and Galadari in reply scored 57 for 4 in 4.2 overs to clinch the "sixes" title.

The tournament which was sponsored by Stassen Group was a resounding success with 45 teams participating.

In the semi-finals Galadari beat Bentota Beach by 4 runs. Bentota Beach scored 49 and Galadari 53.

In the other semi-final, Triton beat Culture Club by 23 runs. Triton scored 70 and in reply Culture Club could muster only 47.

The most number of sixes award was bagged by Triton's Kumara de Silva who also walked away with the Best Batsman's trophy. The Man-of-the-Tournament and Man-of-the-final was Manjula Karunatilleke of Galadari.

Best Bowler was D. M. Mayadunne of Galadari and Best Fielder Viraj Nandasiri also of Galadari.

Final: Triton 54 all out in 4.2 overs (Kumara de Silva 34, Arunjith Prasanna 12, Viranjith 1/15, D. M. Mayadunna 2/3).

Galadari 57 for 4 in 4.2 overs (Manjula Karunatilleke 26, S. Sampath 12, Arunjith Prasanna 2/6).
