Long Service Awards Three veteran journalists, Benedict Dodampegama, David Rajhu and Ms Roshan Peiris, will be conferred with the Long Service in Journalism award at this year's annual Awards presentation by the Editors Guild of Sri Lanka. Dodampegama, who worked as a teacher before taking up journalism, was with the Silumina for 40 years, after which he compiled a science and technology magazine, 'Dharshana' which was published by the US Embassy in Colombo. Rajhu started his journalistic career at the Veerakesari as a sub editor and went on to become its Acting Chief Editor. He is now Media Consultant to the Thinakkural newspaper. Ms. Peiris, whose journalistic career spans nearly half a century joined Lake House when she was 24 years old and has written articles on politics, fashion, women's issues and excelled in interviewing and profiling Heads of Government and important personalities. The Long Service awards which is a special segment in the Journalism Awards programme, honours senior journalist s for their contribution to the media. |
