Army remain unbeaten with 21-15 win over CH The Sri Lanka Army kept their unbeaten record intact with a hard fought 21 points (one goal, one try, three penalties) to 15 (one penalty goal, one try, one penalty) win over CH and FC in their Caltex 'A' Division League rugby match played at Maitland Crescent on Friday after leading 11-10 at the breather. The soldiers opened scoring in the fifth minute when winger Sithara Fernando put the finishing touches to a three quarter move by falling over for an unconverted try by the right corner flag. Ten minutes later Army's full back T. A. Silva fired across a 40 metre penalty from a difficult angle to make it 8-0. Twelve minutes later the soldiers increased their lead when T. A. Silva made no mistake with a 30 metre penalty. In the 35th minute CH and FC reduced the deficit when scrum half Milinda Jayasinghe put over a 25 metre penalty and on the stroke of half time CH and FC were awarded a penalty try when Army were penalised for deliberately collapsing a scrum and Nalin Dissanayake added the extra points to make it 11-10 in favour of Army at 'lemons'. In the 12th minute of the second half CH and FC snatched the lead when off a five metre scrum Milinda Jayasinghe made a break on the blind side and slung out a pass to winger Nuwan Kumara to score an unconverted try and CH led 15-11. Ten minutes later the soldiers grabbed the lead once again when centre Kapila Knowlton crashed through for a try by the corner flag off a second phase move. T. A. Silva made a spectacular conversion to make it 18-15. In the 37st minute Army were awarded a 25 metre penalty and T. A. Silva's made no mistake with the kick to make it 21-15.
