Isipatana register close 6-3 win

Isipatana pulled off an exciting 6-3 win over Wesley College in their Milo 'A' Division League rugby encounter played at Longden Place on Friday.

All scoring was done in the second half with Isipatana converting two penalties against their opponents solitary penalty. Full back Krishan Wettasinghe turned out to be the matchwinner as he fired across two crucial penalties to give his team a thrilling victory at the end.

Earlier Royal College outplayed Ananda by 20 points to 3 points after having led 7-3 at half time at the same venue. Royal collected their points from 1 goal, 2 tries and a penalty while Ananda managed only a solitary penalty.

Meanwhile S. Thomas' College will come out for the second time this season when they take on Thurstan College in another Milo 'A' Division League fixture at Havelock Park today. The Thomians defeated Zahira College in their opening match last week and will be hoping for another good performance. Thurstan however are capable of creating an upset despite going down to Ananda 8-9 in their previous encounter.

In addition St. Peter's College will meet Zahira in another match at the same venue. The Peterites will be hoping to redeem some of their lost prestige having gone down to Royal last week.
