Punchy, cool and mellow

Totally acoustic.... totally unplugged. If you are a purist musician lover then you have to experience Deva de Silva's act which is truly different. Deva who has completed seventeen years as a solo musician this year, sings and plays a mean guitar and adds colour and vibrancy to his act with the blues harp. His act according to the blurbs is punchy yet cool, sizzling and still mellow.

His music is music for your every mood. Unplugged is the current trend in music and Deva de Silva performs unplugged every Thursday evening at the Golden Mite Restaurant, Mt. Lavinia and on Fridays and Saturdays at Cargills Food City at Staples Street. Commencing July Deva will be in action at the JAIC Hilton on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5.30 pm onwards.

In his own inimitable style Deva's repertoire includes songs by the Beatles, Cliff Richards, Elvis Presley, Marvin Gaye, Bob Dylan, Don McLean, Neil Diamond, Simon and Garfunkel, Bob Marley and more. What is extraordinary is that he has the amazing ability to oblige almost all requests for unplugged hits, specialising in the music of the sixties and the seventies.

The guitar comes alive in his hands as he moves from simple strumming to complex finger style playing, while the haunting wail of his blues harp is an added thrust to his artistry.

Catch him live this Tuesday, July 2 at the JAIC and enjoy the unplugged sounds that is the now the current trend.
